Families can get into the spooky spirit together at this Halloween party.

This party continues the Frankenstein-themed events that are planned all across the county to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s famous novel of the same name.

LOU ELLEN WATTS BOOK TALK, 4 p.m. Oct 20, Johnson County Museum of History, 135 N. Main St. Free. Watts will talk about her new book, “Sleeping in Dixie’s Feathered Bed: Growing Up White in the Segregated South.”

A Franklin author will discuss a book she wrote based on her experiences living in deep south during the 1940s and 1950s. Watts grew up in Louisiana, South Carolina and Alabama.

The book, published this year, is a memoir that details experiences such as seeing a cross burned on a lawn, a segregated movie theater and a racist bus driver who drove the author to junior high school.
