Georgia J. Stevens, 94, passed away December 18, 2018. She was born October 4, 1924 in Huntington, IN to James and Pauline Spentzos.

Georgia was a founding member of Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #75 in Huntington, IN, Daughters of Penelope Chapter 212, Alpha Delta Kappa-Fidelis Beta Chapter, AAUW, ISO, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, Newfields, Johnson County Women’s Republican Club, IU Alumni for 75 years, Goodwill Guild, Guardian Home Guild, Women’s Auxiliary to Shriners. Georgia enriched the lives of students by teaching Art and English in Gary, IN, Perry Township (35 year), 20 years at Edgewood Grade School and 15 years at Keystone Middle School. She also served on the Greenwood City Council from 1996 – 2000.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George “Ziggie” Stevens and brother, James G. Spencer.

Georgia is survived by her daughters, Pamela Ann Stevens and Deborah (Steve) O’Reilley; brother, Nick (Carol) Spencer; sister, Sara Massialas; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Scott) Sendelweck, Sean O’Reilley, Christina (Brandon Friend) Stevens-Payne and great grandchildren, Vasiliki and Katia Sendelweck and Jacob and Lucas Friend.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with a funeral service at 1:00 pm in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
