Greenwood woman arrested after fight in apartment

A Greenwood woman was arrested after her girlfriend told police she constricted her throat, pulled her hair and prevented her from calling for help.

Aunyae D. Ingram, 29, was arrested on charges of domestic battery, criminal confinement, strangulation, interference in reporting a crime and criminal mischief.

A woman called police around 11:43 p.m. Monday to report that Ingram had battered her. The woman told police Ingram put her arms around her throat and pulled her hair, according to a report from the Greenwood Police Department.

While strangulation means the act of killing by squeezing the throat, Indiana law defines it as intentionally applying pressure to another person’s throat or obstructing his or her nose or mouth.

Two children, both under age 10, were in the home during the events and Ingram took one child’s phone and smashed it, according to the report.

The woman also told police Ingram scratched her and put her arms around her throat, the report said.

Ingram then trapped the woman in a room and would not allow her to leave. The woman called 911 by using the emergency call button in Ingram’s phone, according to the report.

Ingram was taken to the Johnson County Jail, where she was held on $5,600 bond.
