James W. Long

GREENWOOD

Jim passed away August 14, 2020. He was born in Renovo, Pennsylvania to William Long and Gloria Caruso on May 10, 1945. Both preceded him in death. He graduated from Southport High School and Franklin College.

In June of 1968 he met his beautiful wife, Linda on a blind date. They married a few months later in November 1968 celebrating 51 years of marriage. They owned the Ye Olde Print Shopp in Indianapolis retiring in 2005. They enjoyed their beautiful condo in Ft. Meyers, Florida for many years as well as their home in Greenwood.

Jim was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, Indianapolis Jacees, Greenwood Sertoma, American Legion, Gyros, served as Johnson County Commissioner when a new county annex was built as well as remodeling a 104 year old court house and adding an addition onto Johnson County Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Linda as well as loving daughter, Amanda Slusher (Tony), grandchildren, Jordan, Skyler, Noah, and Caitlyn; step-grandchildren Claire and Eli; great grandchildren, Mya and Isaiah.

In celebration of Jim’s life there will be a Mass at Our Lady of the Greenwood at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 18, 2020 with visitation from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be sent to Riley Children’s Hospital.
