Brenda “Fran” Francine (Sims) Carter, 81, passed away March 17, 2021 at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin, Indiana. Brenda was born to the late Thomas “Frank” Franklin and Maggie Elizabeth (Prince) Sims on March 10, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Brenda was a 1958 graduate of Thomas Carr Howe High School. On March 26, 1961, Brenda married the love of her life, Samuel “Fred” Carter. Brenda loved fishing, traveling, riding motorcycles, crocheting, knitting, board games, playing cards, and most of all, spending time with her family. If there was a puddle with a fish in it, she would drop a line. She was very competitive when it came to fishing and loved to teach others how to fish. Brenda was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Ransford #605, W9IMH ARC at the Indiana Masonic Home, a lifetime member of the GWRRA, and in her earlier years was a member of Job’s Daughters.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Sam “Fred” Carter, David Carter (Peggy), and Richard “Rick” Carter (Chrystal), as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Beth (Sims) Popplewell (Mark) and many nieces and nephews. Brenda is also survived by a special cousin, Judi Morris (Bob).

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Thomas H. Sims, and one grandson, David Anthony Carter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Masonic Home Foundation.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday March 27, 2021 at 2 P.M. at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel 481 West Main Street, Greenwood, Indiana. A gathering will be held from 1 P.M. until the time of service.
