Stanley James Shafer

FRANKLIN, IN.

Stanley James Shafer, 73 of Franklin, IN passed away Saturday October 1, 2022. He was born February 25, 1949, in Seymour, IN to Robert Franklin Shafer and Evelyn Anne (Burbrink) Shafer.

He married Jonnie Marie (Bullock) Shafer on October 20, 1983, she survives.

Stan was a 1967 graduate of Seymour High School, a 1971 graduate of Indiana Central College and received his Master’s degree from the University of Indianapolis.

He had been a long time teacher and coach at Custer Baker Middle School and Mooresville High School.

Survivors include his wife Jonnie Marie (Bullock) Shafer of Franklin, IN, his children Samantha Andros (Ed) of Columbus, IN, Jason Garcia (Trisha) of Franklin, IN, Jenny Hayes (Eric) of Boca Raton, FL, Amanda Gray of Louisville, KY, Jennifer Blomeke (Ben) of Kalamazoo, MI, Elizabeth Catt (Drew) of Indianapolis, IN, Benjamin Shafer (Emily) of Indianapolis, IN, Sarah Linn (Derek) of Franklin, IN, nineteen grandchildren, Natalie, Caraline, Rebekkah, JB, Nicholas, JT, Sabina, Katie, Andy,Josh, Cassidy, Cooper, Daisy, Theodore, Everett, Gus, Ruth, Leo and Parker, brothers Charlie Shafer (Charlene) of Seymour, IN and Joe Shafer (Bonnie) of Carmel, IN and a sister Jane Dickey of Fishers, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Franklin Shafer and Evelyn Anne (Burbrink) Shafer, and his wife Margaret Mary (Fearnow) Shafer on May 9, 1978.

A private family service will be conducted. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.

Friends may call Wednesday October 5, 2022, from 4PM until 7PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN.
