The eight candidates running for three at-large seats on the Center Grove Community School Corporation Board of Trustees will take part in a candidate forum next Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Center Grove High School Auditorium.
The Center Grove Education Foundation will host the forum. The foundation is a non-profit fundraising organization for the school district, and supports Center Grove students, teachers, administrators and staff, according to the foundation’s website.
The candidates, Scott Alexander, Doug Bohall, Bill Collins, Bruce Guiliani, Derek Payne, Gary Robinson, Jack Russell and Nick Smither, filed their candidacies in July and August. The two incumbent candidates Alexander and Russell were both first elected in 2010.
Voters will be able to meet and hear from the eight men vying for their votes at the forum. The candidates will be invited to share their views regarding current issues and needs facing the Center Grove school district, according to event information on the foundation’s Facebook page.
The forum will take place at the Center Grove High School Auditorium and is free to attend. The school is located at 2717 S. Morgantown Road, Greenwood.
People registered to vote in White River Township, along with a sliver of land east of State Road 135 in Greenwood, are eligible to vote for Center Grove’s school board. Voters will be asked to vote for three from among the eight candidates.
Because school boards are nonpartisan and voters can vote for multiple candidates, anyone who votes straight ticket will have to skip down to the school board section to make their selections.

Early voting is already underway at the Johnson County Courthouse, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday voting kicks off this weekend 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the courthouse, Johnson County Public Library’s White River and Trafalgar branches, Greenwood Public Library and the John R. Drybread Community Center in Edinburgh. Saturday voting will also be available on Nov. 5 during the same hours at the same locations.
The election is Nov. 8.
