Royals edged by Hawks
Ahead after each of the first three quarters, Roncalli fell victim to a Decatur Central rally and fell, 53-52, in the first round of the Class 4A Southport Sectional on Wednesday. The Royals finish the season with an 18-5 record.

Women’s basketball suffers home loss
Unbeaten Transylvania, ranked second nationally in Division III, came to Spurlock Center Wednesday and left with a 76-46 triumph over Franklin College. Georgia Hanauer had eight points and 10 rebounds for the Grizzlies (8-11, 7-7 HCAC), while CiCi Bailey added seven points and nine boards.
Men’s basketball falls to Pioneers
Franklin College took a 98-68 loss at Transylvania on Wednesday evening. Nathaniel Hoffman had 17 points and Lynn King finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Grizzlies (12-8, 8-5), who are in the middle of a five-game road swing.
