Betty Dell Bush

GREENWOOD

Betty Dell Bush 95 of Greenwood, Indiana passed away April 16, 2023. Betty was born in North Olmstead, Ohio to Veda Mae Woods and Louis Albert Woods and lived until the age of 14, when her family moved to Louisville, Kentucky. There she attended Shawnee High School. Shortly after graduation, she and her family moved to Indianapolis where she met her husband Kenneth W. Bush. They were married Thanksgiving Eve 1946 at Third Christian Church.

Betty was a loving mother and homemaker to her children, David, and Nancy Bush. She then worked at American States Life Insurance Company in the personnel department and as an employment supervisor. Betty and her husband, Kenneth became members of the Southport Christian Church where over the years she served as an Elder, a member of the Board, and on the Worship Committee. She was also active in the First Tuesday Fellowship.

Betty also initiated the Prayer Shaw Ministry. A program for the sick, dying, and disabled. Betty later became active in the Greenwood Village South Knitting Group where she resided. She was a very talented artist and specialized in watercolor paintings. She painted landscapes, flowers, birds, snow scenes, barn and farm scenes and was featured at the Southside Art League.

Betty especially enjoyed The Indianapolis Symphony, the Colts, and Sunday lunches, cookouts and swimming with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved meeting with old friends from church and from years gone by.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, baby sister Susan and husband Kenneth W. Bush.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth David Bush (JoAnn Stephens Bush); daughter, Nancy B. Bush (Carol Barber); grandchildren, Tracey Bush Wischmeyer (Scott), Joshua and Ashleigh Bush, Marianne Bush Kersys (Stan) and great grandchildren, Alyssa and Luke Wischmeyer, Keira Brock, and Anella Delle Kersys.

A Memorial service will be 6:00pm, Monday, May 1 with a gathering from 4:00 to 6:00pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service &Crematory Greenwood Chapel 481 W. Main St. Greenwood, IN. She will be laid to rest in Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
