Grizzly Cubs win three-way

Franklin posted a team score of 162 to defeat Mooresville (181) and Whiteland (182) at The Legends on Tuesday. Reid Davidson led all players with a 36 for the Grizzly Cubs, who also got scores of 42 from Jake Lock, Luke Bechert, Conner Diebold and Jack Lock. The Warriors were led by rounds of 43 from Brayden Paterek and Will Smith.

Lancers defeat Cougars

Edinburgh topped Trinity Lutheran, 187-199. Max Blandford led the Lancers with a 40, while Keegan Smith and Trenton Schmidt each carded a 48. Gabe Bennett finished out the scoring with a 49.

Baseball

Grizzly Cubs knock off Pioneers

Max Clark’s second home run of the game, a solo shot in the eighth inning, lifted Franklin to a 7-6 triumph at Class 4A No. 8 Mooresville on Tuesday. Clark was 3 for 4 with a walk and two steals for the Grizzly Cubs (8-6, 3-3 Mid-State), while Landen Basey added two hits and scored twice.

Whiteland outslugs Martinsville

Blake Riddle had three hits and scored three times in Whiteland’s 11-3 win over Martinsville. Donavin Woodall and Kayden Ferguson each drove in a pair of runs for the Warriors (5-6, 4-3 Mid-State).

Softball

Franklin blanked by Mooresville

Facing a stern test at Class 4A No. 10 Mooresville on Tuesday, Franklin managed just three hits in a 7-0 conference defeat.

Royals shut out Heritage

Class 4A No. 2 Roncalli picked up a 14-0 victory over Heritage Christian. Avery Clark struck out 10 in pitching a no-hitter, while Emma Fegan, Keagan Rothrock and Lauren Marsicek each hit a home run for the Royals (11-2-1). Lyla Blackwell had three hits, stole three bases and scored three times.

Girls tennis

Braves get past Edinburgh

Indian Creek defeated visiting Edinburgh on Tuesday, 4-1. Reese Tunnell and Kylie Lemmon were winners at second and third singles for the Braves (8-3), who got a point at No. 1 doubles from Olivia Perry and Addy Tunell and another at No. 2 from Lanie Swanson and Alexa Sichting. Jessica Walsh was a three-set winner at No. 1 singles for the Lancers.

Trojans come up short

Center Grove lost at No. Park Tudor, 4-1. Emerson Donaldson picked up the Trojans’ lone point with a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles.

Warriors edge Artesians

Whiteland pulled out a 3-2 win over Martinsville on Monday evening. Candace Stephenson won her match at second singles for the Warriors (6-6), Kinsey Shipp and Cathy Nguyen took theirs at first doubles and the No. 2 duo of Sara Ullrich and Rowen Starns also came out on top.

Track and field

Grizzly Cubs win at Greensburg

Franklin’s boys and girls both won their dual meets at Greensburg on Tuesday, with the boys taking an 81-51 win and the girls finishing on top by a 101-29 score. The Grizzly Cub boys took all three relays and got individual victories from J.D. Sever (110 and 300 hurdles), Ethan Elsner (100 meters), Aidan Jefry (200) Ari Smith (800), Carson Sommers (pole vault) and Luke Cambridge (discus). The girls also swept the relays, with Morgan Sandrock (high jump and 100 hurdles), Lauren Klem (200 and 400), Ava Ott (800), Kathleen Lacy (1,600), Willa Thomas (3,200), Brooke Coffman (300 hurdles) and Emma Bertel (shot put) taking their respective events.
