73, passed away on April 26, 2023. He was born to William George & Martha Jane (McCarty) Zimmer in Indianapolis on February 5, 1950. David graduated from Greenwood Community High School in 1968 and studied at Vincennes University. After college, he began working at Mayflower before joining his family to help run The Village Shoppes in Greenwood. Helping to run The Village Shoppes was a great joy in David’s life. He truly enjoyed meeting and greeting customers at the produce stand on Madison Avenue, taking care of friends and family at the Village Shoppes, and being involved in his community. He was active in the Greenwood community, including with the Greater Greenwood Chamber of Commerce. David was passionate about making Greenwood a more beautiful place and was always quick with a smile and a chat. If you stopped in at The Village Shoppes and saw someone outside planting flowers in the springtime or hanging Christmas lights in the winter, that was most certainly David. David was preceded in death by his parents, William (Bill) and Martha (Jane), brothers Gary, Jack, and 2 infant brothers. David is survived by his nephews Brian (Jessika) Zimmer, Geoffrey Zimmer, niece Nicole (Daryl) Cook, great-niece Kylee Yates, and great-nephews Quinten Zimmer, Eli, Draven and Liam Cook. He is also survived by his special friend and sweetheart, Dana Pearson, as well as many cousins and their families. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. A visitation will be held Saturday, May 6th, 2023 from 4pm to 7 pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home, 481 W. Main Street, Greenwood, IN 46142. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation.
