Shepherd makes cut in LPGA event

Center Grove graduate Erica Shepherd made the cut in her first LPGA event since turning pro this spring, carding a 2-under-par 69 on Friday to head into the weekend tied for 43rd at the Dana Open in Sylvania, Ohio.

Shepherd, a recent Duke grad, followed up on her first-round 71 by posting a birdie and a bogey on the front nine to make the turn at even par for the tournament. She made back-to-back birdies on the 12th and 13th holes and parred in from there to safely finish above the cut line.

She’ll tee off today’s third round on the back nine at 9:16 a.m.
