LA MARQUE, TEXAS
Rita F. Pike, age 86, of La Marque, Texas, formerly of Franklin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, with her daughters by her side.
Rita was born on Feb. 2, 1929, to the late Effie Satterfield and Thomas Derbyshire. She married Robert Pike on June 20, 1947, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1991.
Rita graduated from Ben Davis High School and worked for many years at Stewart Warner Corp., retiring in 1994.
She was a member of Bluff Creek Christian Church and a past matron of Morgantown Order of the Eastern Star.
Rita is lovingly survived by two daughters, Pam (John) Berg of La Marque, Texas and Debbie (Jack) Stainbrook of New Whiteland; five grandchildren, Shane Berg of Texas, Mark (Joyce) Berg of Alaska, Holly (Bronson) Taylor of Greenwood, Amy (Brian) Miller of Greenwood and Kelly Stainbrook of New Whiteland; three great grandchildren, Kyle and Hannah Nixon and Paxton Miller; one brother, Jack Derbyshire of Whiteland, several nieces and nephews, and her best little buddy, Chloe, her Chihuahua.
Rita loved sports, especially Pacers basketball, Colts football and IU basketball.
Rita was preceded in death by five brothers, Conrad, William, Roland, Kenneth and Robert and two sisters, Virginia and Suzanne.
The Rev. Stan Icenogle will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Swartz Family Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
