Hearts & Darts – June 11

Hearts

Hearts to the students at Clark-Pleasant schools that sent letters for our “mail call” for our veterans. The mail will be distributed at the July 28 World War II Memorial Dedication ceremony. I know the veterans will be touched by your cards and letters just as I was when I read them. Thank you so very much.

New Whiteland

Hearts to the wonderful staff at the Whiteland Key Bank for volunteering to paint picnic tables at Proctor Park during their Community Service Day. Your employees did a great job and the park looked especially nice for our visitors on Memorial Day weekend. Thanks for being such a great neighbor and community partner!

New Whiteland

I was about to check out my groceries (at Franklin Walmart), and then realized I had forgotten to bring my billfold. So I was arranging with the cashier to leave everything in the basket while I went home and brought back some money — when a courteous and kind young lady paid for my purchase, and refused repayment. As I promised her, I will “pay it forward” (with interest) very soon. (Isn’t it great to live in a community with neighbors like that?!)

Franklin

Thank you to Nicci Sargent, principal of Northwood Elementary School, and the fourth grade staff for your participation in the American Legion Flag Education Test and for allowing me to talk to the students about the nation’s colors.
