To the editor:
Where’s the balance? This morning’s edition (Dec. 13) of the Daily Journal might as well have come from democrats.com.
Seriously. Pages A6 and A7 were awash with no fewer than four articles painting President Trump in a salacious fashion; specifically,
- "‘DIRTY DEEDS" re ‘Ex-Trump lawyer Cohen…."
- "A look at where investigations related to Trump stand"
- "AN ALARMING DEVELOPMENT" "Trump campaign Russian contacts…."
- "A ‘ook at the ongoing criminal investigation of President Trump"
Come on now, don’t you think that’s a bit of overkill? I sure do. Why? Because our nation is blessed at this point in its history to have a leader capable of doing the following during his first (nearly) two years in office:
Improved our national economy to the point where we now enjoy very low unemployment, much job creation and increase in wages. GDP growth has jumped from 1.9 percent under Obama to more than 4.1 during first half of year 2018!
Food stamp reliance has dropped from 42.7 million citizens to 39.5 million, according to USDA! Consumer confidence, at 125.9 percent, is highest it’s been in more than 17 years! Foreign policy now puts ‘American First’, where trade deals, NATO spending, defeat of ISIS and relationship with North Korea is concerned. Oh, and yes, finally a U.S. president who keeps his campaign promise to formally recognize Jerusalem as the capitol of Israel! How can you forget about the tax breaks we ALL enjoyed this past year and now?
Finally, federal judges who adjudicate, not legislate, via their courtrooms! And if you were true businessmen and women there at The Journal, you’d ballyhoo President Trump’s extensive efforts at deregulation!
There’s more to come: getting rid of Obamacare, continue our defense buildup, improving our infrastructure and of course, building the wall between the U.S. and Mexico!
See what I mean? The Daily Journal, in my opinion — as a 40-year subscriber, retired Marine colonel, local businessman, and family man — routinely does major disservice to the best president (leader) this nation has had in decades! And don’t think for a moment your readers don’t notice this! They do; it’s just that most will not pick up a pen and tell you so.
