Greenwood caps outstanding season
The Greenwood Lassie League 12U All-Stars capped their summer season on an 18-game winning streak after sweeping their way through the Greenwood Triple Play tournament this past weekend. The team defeated Franklin Central Blue, 10-1, in the championship game behind big hits from Kinsley Clark and Isabella Blythe.
Pitcher Katie Berger struck out more than 100 batters for Greenwood, which finished with a 20-2 record and also won tournament titles at Beech Grove and Hamilton Southeastern.
SOJC hosts state tournament
Special Olympics Johnson County hosted the state softball tournament on Center Grove this past weekend, with more than 550 athletes from around Indiana taking part. Among the local volunteers helping out were Center Grove sophomores Hayden Watson and Geiger White, who volunteered at the Skills Field measuring length as athletes hit from a tee, and Roncalli sophomore Seth Tyler, who measured throwing distances.
