County appoints business owner to Greenwood board

A downtown Greenwood restaurant owner was named to the City of Greenwood Economic Development Commission.

The county council voted Monday to appoint Laura Jacquin to the one-year appointment, with multiple county council members citing her business ownership in downtown Greenwood as the deciding factor.

Eleven people applied for the appointment and most gave a short speech about themselves at the meeting Monday. The commission’s focus is on retaining and expanding businesses in Greenwood.

Jacquin is an owner of Vino Villa, a wine and bar bistro on Madison Avenue in Greenwood. The restaurant opened in September 2011.

The Greenwood resident is also a partner at a consulting firm. She graduated from Southport High School and has Master of Business Administration in finance from the University of Indianapolis, and a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
