Shirley Mae Owensby, 87, of Plainfield, formerly Indianapolis, passed from this life on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Plainfield Health Care Center. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 29, 1933 to the late William McKinley Richardson and Hattie (Green) Richardson.
</p>
<p>
She graduated from Emmerich Manual High School in Indianapolis. She was a dedicated homemaker taking great pride in her family and her home. She enjoyed sewing and flower gardening. She was an active member of Suburban Baptist Church in Indianapolis and sang on the church choir. In spare time, she enjoyed watching game shows on TV and working crossword puzzles. She possessed a great sense of humor and loved to joke with family and friends.
</p>
<p>
Shirley married the love of her life, Gary Eugene Owensby, on January 19, 1962. They had enjoyed over 55 years of marriage when he passed in 2017.
</p>
<p>
She leaves behind her loving family including her son, Gary (wife, Kim) Owensby of St. Johns, Florida; daughter, Valerie (husband, Richard) Berry of Clarksville, Tennessee and Kathy (husband, Richard) Hirby of West Mansfield, Ohio; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
</p>
<p>
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Hattie; husband, Gary Owensby; and sister, Norma Jean Hubbard.
</p>
<p>
All services for Mrs. Owensby will be private. She will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, Gary, in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. Arrangements have been entrusted to Neal &amp; Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville.
