William “Bill” Rash, 85 of Franklin, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at his residence surrounded by family and friends.

He was born on April 30, 1935 in Clark Township, Johnson County, Indiana to William E. and Dora Elizabeth (Ray) Rash. He married Mary Elizabeth (Rains) Rash on April 23, 1958 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. She preceded him in passing on June 3, 2007. Bill is survived by daughter, Dora Elizabeth Kelley (Jim) and son, Bill Rash (Patty); grandchildren, Jessica Underwood (Rob), J.D. Kelley (Amanda Shumaker), Theodore Rash (Sarah), and Jensen Rash; great grandchildren, Skylar, Kiera, Evelyn and Joshua. He is also survived by sisters-in-laws, Linda Rash and Martha Rains and brother-in-law, Duane Cartledge and his very dear friends, Bill and Pat Murr of Franklin. He was preceded in passing by his parents, wife Mary, and ten older siblings.

Bill attended Franklin High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he joined in 1958 and was discharged in 1960. He served in Germany in the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment as a radio repairman.

Bill retired after thirty-five years of dedicated service as a Tool and Die maker at Eli Lilly, where he was the head of the die room.

He was a member of the Franklin American Legion Post No. 205.

He enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards, especially euchre and going on trips with his friends Bill and Pat Murr. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed woodworking and horseback riding in the 1970’s.

Bill was a kind and loving father, husband, grandfather, brother and a great friend to all. He is well loved and will be dearly missed.

A gathering will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Turning Point Church, 3600 N. Morton Street, Franklin, Indiana 46131. Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin is assisting the family with arrangements.
