Gentry ‘Dean’ Henderson

GREENWOOD, IN

Greenwood, IN – Gentry ‘Dean’ Henderson, 91, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024 at The Arms of Greenwood Village. Gentry was born in Providence, Indiana on January 28, 1933 to the late Arnold Luther and Elsie M. (Koons) Henderson-Billings. Dean was born in Johnson County, a 1950 graduate of Southport High School and proudly served in the United States Army. He married his high school sweetheart, Bernese Fodge, in 1952. Dean was a printer for the Indianapolis Star Newspaper for 32 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Arnold ‘Junior’ Henderson, and his sisters Beulah Smith, and Lucy Voorhis.

Dean is survived by his wife of 72 years, Bernese A. (Fodge) Henderson of Greenwood, IN; children, Aaron L. Henderson and his wife, Terri Lee of Leavenworth, KS; Christy A. Giroux of Tucson, AZ; Deena S. Pitman and her husband, Ken of Indianapolis, IN; Laura L. Robinson and her husband, Jonathan G. of Fairland, IN; grandchildren, Tiffany Henderson, Nicole Berni, Kathryn Powell (Matt), Matthew Wuensch (Chani), Aaron Henderson, Jr. (Stephanie), James Robinson (Amber), Jeremiah Robinson (Kayla), and 9 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 2:00pm at Jessen Funeral Home &Simple Cremation ~ Whiteland Chapel with visitation from 1:00pm until the funeral hour. Dean will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana following a private graveside service.
