Evelyn M. Tapak

INDIANAPOLIS

Evelyn Marie (Knoop) Tapak, Indianapolis, passed away on November 3, 2021.

Evelyn was born on November 19, 1948 to Patricia Smith and Lawrence “Fred” Knoop in Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended Speedway High School and Indiana State University where she received a Masters in Elementary Education and met her husband, Joe Tapak. Evelyn and Joe have been members of St. Barnabas Catholic Church and were married there on April 8, 1972.

During her career as a teacher, Evelyn touched the lives of many students in various elementary schools in Perry Township. Her favorite role, however, was that of mother and Nana. She loved to spend time with her nine grandchildren – attending as many sporting and school events as she could, hosting family pool time in the summer months and traveling on family vacations.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Joe Tapak, her children Nicole Tapak Lukes, Chris Tapak (Heather), Ryan Tapak (Emily), her sister Debbie Parsley (David), step-sister Cheryl Bradshaw (Tony), step-brother Joseph Yount Jr., and niece Lindsay Snyder (Greg). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Steven Lukes, Molly Tapak, Ben Tapak, Nathan Lukes, Lillia Tapak, Zach Tapak, Beck Tapak, Gracie Tapak and Claire Tapak.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Monday, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service &Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 West Main Street, and from 11-12 Tuesday at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12PM, Tuesday at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 8300 Rahke Road, Indianapolis. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
