Lancers defeat Lutheran to advance to title contest

Edinburgh scored a 52-38 semifinal win over Lutheran to qualify for the first-place game at the Lancers own holiday tournament. Led by Callie Hancock’s 19 points, Gracie Crawhorn’s 10 and nine from Alyssa Funkhauser, Edinburgh advanced to play Southwestern today at 4 p.m.

Wiseman picks up Player of the Week award

Indian Creek center Faith Wiseman is one of six girls basketball players from around the state to earn Player of the Week recognition for the week of Dec. 13-18 from the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association and Franciscan Health.

The 6-4 sophomore recorded double-doubles in victories over Whiteland, Edgewood and North Putnam.

Grizzlies men lose in consolation game

Franklin College lost to Juniata, 67-61, in the consolation game of the Wittenberg Holiday Classic in Springfield, Ohio. Junior swingman Carter Crowe, a former Whiteland player, led the Grizzlies (6-4) with 21 points. Ty Wright had 15 points and Matt Krause 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds for Franklin College.
