Girls basketball

Trojans win MIC finale

Playing its last game as a member of the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference, Center Grove picked up a 52-36 home victory over Lawrence North. Ella Hobson scored 13 of her team-high 15 in the pivotal third quarter, which saw the Trojans (13-9, 3-4) break a halftime tie and build a 19-point lead. Aubrie Booker and Lilly Bischoff each added eight points, followed by Audrey Annee (seven), Savanna Bischoff (six) and Rachel Wirts (five).

Woodmen smother Falcons

Greenwood finished the regular season with a 51-26 road win over Perry Meridian. Lily Howe led the Woodmen (12-10, 4-3 Mid-State) with 15 points, while Brooklyn Bell joined her in double figures with 10.

Lancers fall to Yellow Jackets

Edinburgh suffered a 45-22 setback against Morristown. Callie Hancock led the Lancers (8-9, 1-3 Mid-Hoosier) with 11 points.

Cougars edged by Spartans

Southwestern rallied past Greenwood Christian on Thursday night, 54-53. Dani Simon finished with 16 points for GCA (11-11), followed by Ellie Bigelow with 15.

Boys basketball

Dewey, Edinburgh cruise

Caleb Dewey scored 28 points to go over the 1,000-point mark for his career as Class A No. 2 Edinburgh rolled to a 69-49 win against Morristown on Friday. Travis Jones contributed 16 points for the Lancers (13-1, 5-0 Mid-Hoosier), while Riley Palmeter had 11 and Jarrett Turner added nine.

GCA comes up short

Greenwood Christian fell at Central Christian on Friday, 62-45. Ian Reed’s 13 points led the Cougars (8-9), who also got nine points from Max Booher, eight from Nolan Reed and seven from Blake Shewmaker.

Royals emerge victorious

Nolan Tunny scored 21 points to lead Roncalli to a 60-51 triumph over Covenant Christian.

Swimming and diving

Creek boys earn narrow win

Indian Creek’s boys pulled out a 79-77 triumph over Shelbyville on Thursday. The Braves won the 200-yard medley and freestyle relays and got individual wins from Evan Schaub (200 and 500 freestyle), Evan Dennis (butterfly), Nolan Greene (backstroke), Eli Botts (breaststroke) and Willy Martinez (diving).
