Trojans open with victory

Center Grove took its first match of the season, claiming a 4-1 win over Terre Haute South on Saturday. Ava Beecher and Emerson Donaldson claimed points at second and third singles for the Trojans, Hudson Gilstorf and Annaliese Runkle were victorious at first doubles and the No. 2 duo of Madison Herron and Peri Small also won.

Trojans finish 1-2 at The Legends

Center Grove’s Red and White teams took the top two spots in the Woodmen Classic at The Legends on Saturday. The Trojans’ Red team led the way with a team total of 299, paced by a 72 from medalist Sam Hord, a 74 from Luke Beetz, 76 from Drew Hardin and 77 from Drew Rowen. The White team (315) was led by Ted Lasaru’s 77. Sixth-place Franklin (341) got an 82 from Kadin Gibson.

Women’s lacrosse routs Quakers

Franklin College set a school record for goals scored in a 20-4 blowout win over Earlham on Saturday. Baleigh Riddle totaled 10 goals for the Grizzlies (2-6, 1-0 HCLC), while Victoria Simmons handed out seven assists and goaltender Riley Rice stopped 10 of the 14 shots she faced.
