Boys golf

Trojans win tri-match

Center Grove posted wins over Columbus North and Franklin, carding a total of 150 to beat the Bull Dogs by four and the Grizzly Cubs by 14. Luke Beetz and Drew Hardin each shot 36 for the Trojans, followed by Drew Rowen and James Beetz with rounds of 39. Kadin Gibson and Will McGuinness finished at 38 and 39, respectively, for the Grizzly Cubs.

The Trojans fell to rival Carmel in the North/South Cup on Tuesday, 145-154, in a match cut short by weather and then darkness.

Roncalli defeats Falcons

Nick Stewart earned medalist honors with a 39 as Roncalli topped Perry Meridain on Wednesday, 160-173. All five players in the Royals’ lineup shot 41 or better.

Warriors stay unbeaten

Winning pitcher Debbie Hill struck out 11 in the circle and helped her cause with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs as Class 4A No. 2 Whiteland beat Decatur Central on Tuesday, 11-1. Haley Wilkerson and Maddy Myers added three hits apiece in the win.

Hill homered again on Wednesday as the Warriors (17-0, 10-0 Mid-State) blanked the Hawks by a 10-0 margin. Kiley Sullivan pitched a three-hitter and Josslynn Harbert drove in three runs.

Franklin loses a pair

After taking a 15-0 home loss to Martinsville on Tuesday, Franklin suffered a 7-3 setback on the Artesians’ home field Wednesday. Ellie Chumbley hit a two-run homer in defeat for the Grizzly Cubs (4-14, 0-10 Mid-State).

Royals hammer Brebeuf

Courtney Keller had two home runs and five RBIs while also earning the win in the pitching circle as Class 4A No. 1 Roncalli routed Brebeuf on Wednesday, 12-2. Cate Lehner scored three runs for the Royals (17-0, 4-0 Circle City).

Woodmen knock off Pioneers

Greenwood jumped on top with a four-run first and never let up, handing Class 4A No. 3 Mooresville its first loss of the season in a 5-1 home win on Wednesday. Micah Vessely went the distance for the Woodmen (5-9, 2-7 Mid-State), striking out 10. Vessely and Alex Honeycutt each drove in a pair of runs.

Grizzly Cubs sweep Artesians

Franklin scored three first-inning runs and held on for a 5-3 win over the Artesians on Tuesday. Drew Doty homered Max Clark had two doubles and two RBIs in support of winning pitcher Jackson Henry, who scattered six hits over seven innings.

The Grizzly Cubs (12-6, 7-3 Mid-State) edged the Artesians again on Wednesday, 8-7, behind two RBIs from Nolan Netter and a Pryce Rucker home run.

Lancers split league series

Riley Palmeter’s two-run double in the fourth inning proved to be the difference as Edinburgh claimed a 2-1 win in a pitchers’ duel at Southwestern on Tuesday. Travis Jones tossed a complete-game two-hitter in the win, striking out 11.

The Lancers (3-12, 1-9 Mid-Hoosier) lost to the Spartans on Wednesday, 6-5.

Warriors fall to Hawks

Decatur Central rallied for a 3-2 home win over Whiteland on Tuesday. Caden Wilburn and Kevin Denham drove in runs for the Warriors (9-9, 5-5 Mid-State).

Pioneers defeat Woodmen

Greenwood lost to Mooresville on Tuesday, 11-1. Brendan Bailey knocked in the lone run for the Woodmen (4-9, 1-7 Mid-State).

Girls tennis

Lancers squeak past Owls

Alyssa Funkhouser and Jillian Turner rallied from a set down to win at No. 1 doubles, helping Edinburgh clinch a 3-2 triumph over Seymour on Tuesday. Bethany Burton and Jessica Walsh were victorious at first and second singles for the Lancers, who lost a 5-0 match against Triton Central on Wednesday.

Braves sweep Saints

Indian Creek won every set on the way to a 5-0 win over Indianapolis Lutheran on Tuesday. Lauren Foster, Lauren Lewis and Zoe Rayback took the singles points for the Braves (8-3), while Emilee Scott and Olivia Perry won at first doubles and Avery Burress and Addy Tunell claimed victory in the second spot.

Braves dominate three-way

Indian Creek rolled to victory in a three-way meet against Edinburgh and Brownstown Central on Tuesday. The Braves got wins on the girls side from Ella Taylor (100 and 300 hurdles, high jump), Molly Margison (100 and 200 meters), Samuela Grosso (800 and 1,600), Tarra Turnmire (discus), Jada Flora (shot put), Paige Iaira (400) and the 4×400 and 4×800 relay teams. For the boys, Caden Ringer won the 800 and 1,600 and anchored the winning 4×800 relay, while Aidan Neathery (shot), Gerson Coroa (long jump) and Luke Neibert (3,200) also finished first.

Franklin wins conference title

Host Franklin earned a Mid-State Conference championship on Monday, outpointing runner-up Greenwood by a 121-112 margin. Hunter Couden-Case won the shot put for the Grizzly Cubs with a throw of 31 feet, 5 inches.
