Greene emerges to win GOP seat for District 47

Out of a crowded field of four candidates, Robb Greene has emerged to represent the Republicans in the race for Indiana House District 47, knocking off incumbent John Young.

Greene received 41% of the vote in Johnson County, compared to 37% for John Young, 19% for Luke Campbell and 3% for Scott Strother.

District 47 covers most of Johnson County, in addition to around half of Shelby County.

Greene, a Shelbyville resident, is running for office for the first time. He opted to run to be an active and engaged voice for families, small business, family farms and small towns, he told the Daily Journal earlier this year.

His top priorities include focusing on workforce development for the special needs community, particularly for those with autism spectrum disorder. If elected, he also would champion free speech and work against overreach by big tech, he said.

The third issue Greene wants to look at is ensuring that development throughout the district is the right kind, and protected the interests of the community, he said.

Greene is currently unopposed in November’s general election, though candidates in other parties have until July to file an opponent.
