Voorhees ‘Jim’ Coleman Dalton

INDIANAPOLIS

Voorhees “Jim” Coleman Dalton, age 91, of Indianapolis, passed away on June 12, 2022. He was born in Rainsville, Indiana, on January 15, 1931 to Coleman and Pauline Dalton, both of whom preceded him in death. Jim was a graduate of Williamsport High School and served his country in the United States Air Force. He earned his Land Surveyor Certification through Purdue University and held a position with Weihe Engineers, Inc. for over 30 years. Jim was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenwood and even sang in the choir. He had a talent for roller skating in his younger years, and was very attentive and involved with his sons in Boy Scouts. Jim liked to read, dance, and working with his hands, particularly in mechanics.

He is survived by his wife: Billie Dalton; children: Joe (Gail) Dalton, Kathy (Mitch) Mosier, and Greg Dalton; grandchildren: Cole (Kat) Dalton, Tiffany (Josh) Agee, Kayla (Trent) Hagerty, Megan (Adam) Gowan, Kaitlyn (Jake) Rosen, Sarah (Bobby) Schofield, Micah (Lily) Mosier, Ben (Jaimie) Mosier, and Hannah (Seth) Abdallah; great-grandchildren: Layla, Clay, Andy, Tucker, Aidan, Olivia, Audrey, Madilyn, Evelyn, Holden, Eliana, and Samuel; as well as a great-granddog: Appa.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Simplicity Funeral &Cremation Care, 7520 Madison Ave., Indianapolis. A private entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
