Carol Jean James

Carol Jean James, 66, of Columbus, passed away on June 22, 2022, at home. She was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana on November 30, 1955, to Dr. Carroll F. James, and Imogene Mix James.

Carol was a very loving woman. She enjoyed spending her time fishing, playing dice with her friends, going to yard sales, and helping other people. For the last few years of her life, she would spend much of her time helping care for her mother. Her sense of humor and loving personality will be missed greatly.

She is survived by her mother, Imogene James; children, Edward (Jessica Williams) Wells, of Henry County, Indiana, and Kristyn (Mike Cool) Plummer, of Edinburgh, Indiana; brother, Keith (Ann) James, of Columbia, Tennessee; grandchildren, Gage Plummer, Kaleb Williams, Faith Barrett, Harley Barrett, and Graclyn Barrett; great-grandchild, Stiles Plummer; nephews, Kevin James, and David James; niece, Amelia James; and her four-legged companion, Opal.

Carol is preceded in death by her father, Dr. Carroll F. James; brother, L. Alan James; and grandchild, Kiegan Frazee.

A funeral service is at 4 pm on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the calling hours taking place before the service from 1 pm to 4 pm, also at the funeral home. Jim Shoaf will officiate the service. In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation is planned.
