GREENWOOD
Helen I. South, 88, of Greenwood, passed away on August 1, 2022. She was born on February 1, 1934 in Campbellsville, Kentucky to the late Leslie and Hazel Herron.
She was a member of Calvary Tabernacle under the leadership of Pastor Paul D. and Sister Micki Mooney. She had a servant’s heart and enjoyed serving in various ministries, such as soup kitchens, nursing homes, and prison ministries. In her free time she loved cooking for her family, reading, and traveling to Israel.
Helen is survived by her children, Daniel (Judy) South, David (Darlene) South, Janet Baumann, Pamala (Randy) Bennett, Gloria (John) Ballard, Deborah Hail, Pete (Denise) South, Paul (Cindy) South, Caroline South, Samuel (Trina) South, Elina (Wayne) Willhoite; 21 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; she was the oldest of 17 children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete South; grandchildren, Derrick James South; and a great grandson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605, S. State Road 135, Grenwood, IN. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Helen will be laid to rest in The Gardens at Olive Branch Cemetery.
