Walter “Austin” “Big A” Crosley

FRANKLIN, INDIANA

Walter “Austin” “Big A” Crosley, born October 20, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents James “Big Jim” &Mary Crosley, passed away on the 12th day of September in 2022.

“Austin” was a member of the Teamsters Union Local Chapter 135 and was employed by Commercial Motor Freight. Additionally, he drove for TNT/USF Holland until 1995. He was a proud driver who worked hard to provide for his loving wife of nearly 60 years. He is survived by his wife, Hilda Crosley, who he married on March 8, 1963 in Indianapolis. They moved to Franklin, Indiana in 1969 and have resided in the city they called home since.

In addition to his wife, Austin is survived by 7 siblings, Judy, Mary, Agnes, Frances, Elizabeth “Liz”, Rose, &William “Joe”, and a plethora of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews stemming from the Buck, Crosley, Henson, &Smith families, to name a few.

Austin was preceded in death by his parents, James &Mary Crosley, and 3 siblings, Jimmy, Margaret, &Martin.

In addition to loving his huge family, Austin was once a member of the Greenwood Moose Lodge &Whiteland Eagles 4132 where he was a donor to multiple fundraisers throughout his life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the 12th Annual Cancer Sucks Ride in Austin’s memory, given that he battled multiple stints with cancer for nearly 19 years. The family thanks you.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Jessen &Keller Funeral Homes ~ Whiteland Chapel with funeral service on Friday, September 16th at 11:00am. Austin will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.
