The young — and the young at heart — will get a kick out of the latest offering from the Greater Greenwood Community Band.
The band will host a free children’s concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Greenwood Amphitheater. Featured music includes selections from “Jurassic Park,” “Spiderman,” “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” and children’s classics of yesteryear.
Prior to the concert, band members will offer special hands-on demonstrations of instruments. Children of all ages are welcome to experience all of the instruments provided in hopes of inspiring a new generation of musicians. Band members will be eager to answer any questions and nurture young talent.
Free balloon animals and temporary tattoos will also be provided.
This event includes a salute to music educators, and people are encouraged to invite their favorite band directors and music educators to attend and be recognized.
