Jo Ann Williams

Jo Ann (Curry) Williams, age 83 passed away peacefully on Monday evening, October 3, 2022 at Homeview Health &Rehabilitation Center in Franklin. She was a resident of Trafalgar.

Jo Ann was born March 5, 1939, in Cane Valley, KY, to her parents, the late Henry and Marie (Smith) Curry. She attended Trafalgar High School and went on to be a loving wife, mother, homemaker and grandmother. Jo Ann was a member of the Trafalgar United Methodist Church and a former member of Mt. Olive Church in Peoga, where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Ladies’ Aide &led the congregation in singing.

Jo Ann was an excellent cook without ever using a recipe, saying that you just need “a cup of this and a spoon of that!” Her family enjoyed many home cooked meals and raved about her cheesy potatoes. Jo Ann had a green thumb and enjoyed flower gardening and watching The Young &The Restless and The Bold &Beautiful soap operas. She and her late husband made many memories while camping at Green River in Kentucky and vacationing on the beach in Florida. Her family remembers her quiet and reserved nature and strong inner strength.

She was preceded in death on July 20, 2017 by her loving husband of 59 years, John Allen Williams, whom she married on January 10, 1958 in Greenwood. Jo Ann was also preceded in death by a son, Rocky Allen Williams; daughter, Lisa Bell; sons-in-law, Barry K. Lasley and Dan Freeman; grandson, Austin Carr; seven sisters and two brothers.

Jo Ann is survived by her daughters, Tammie Freeman of Franklin, Malinda Lasley of Trafalgar and Sonia (Jeff) Ross of Nineveh; grandchildren, Kyle Oliver, Greg Lasley, Lacey Prosser, Heather Williams, Tyler Ross, Samantha Woods; great grandchildren, Barrett, Bristal, Kennedi, Cooper, Calli and Oliver.

The Rev. Doug Bohall will conduct a funeral service on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation &Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 2:30 p.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Nineveh Cemetery.
