Shari Handy (Black) 77, of Greenwood, IN passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 surrounded by family and friends. Shari was born May 20, 1944 in San Francisco, CA.
Shari was preceded in death by her parents George Thomas Black & Lois Black (Gainard), and her stepmother Maxine Black, and brother Brian Black.
Shari is survived by her husband Morris (Moe) Handy and brother Greg Black (Lockhart, TX), and sister Melanie Huey (Terre Haute, IN).
Shari retired from US Airways after 39 years. During her time there, she met the love of her life and they enjoyed 53 years together. Shari was a longtime member of the Whiteland Church of Christ, and was known by their children of her church family as the “Candy Lady.” Shari could always find a piece of candy in her pocket to give them, as well as a bucket of candy she passed around. Shari enjoyed volunteering and spending time with her church family. Shari also enjoyed sewing, and the many hours spent with friends as they made baby blankets, crocheting newborn caps, pillowcases, tote bags, etc., for local hospitals.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 1:30 p.m., with a short visitation at 1p.m., at the Whiteland Church of Christ (625 W. 600 North, Whiteland).
