Charles F. “Charlie” Stewart

BARGERSVILLE, IN.

Charles F. “Charlie” Stewart, 86 and lifelong resident of Bargersville, IN passed away Saturday November 12, 2022. He was born in Bargersville on June 5, 1936.

He was a 1954 graduate of Center Grove High School where he played basketball.

He married Judith Ann (Jasper) Stewart on May 2, 1959, at Bluff Creek Christian Church, she survives.

Charlie was a lifelong grain, hog and dairy farmer in the Bargersville Community of Johnson County alongside his family. He had also been a sales representative for Pioneer Hi Bred Seeds for over 30 years from 1970 until 2001.

He had been a 10-year 4-H member showing horse, pony and cattle.

Charlie was a member and former deacon of First Christian Church in Bargersville, a member of the Bargersville Masonic Lodge, former member of the Johnson County Fair Board where he had served as superintendent of the Sheep Barn and active many years in the Swine Barn, former leader along with his wife Judy of the Bargersville Blue Ribbon 4-H Club, a member and former director of the Johnson County Farm Bureau CO-OP, a member Johnson County Farm Bureau, longtime board member of the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in White River Township, former member of the police merit board for the Town of Bargersville and was active in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Charlie and his wife Judy felt blessed to raise their family on the family farm and having them living in the community they grew up in.

Survivors include his wife Judith Ann “Judy” (Jasper) Stewart of Bargersville, IN, sons Doug Stewart (Julie) of Bargersville, IN, Dennis Stewart (Pam) of Bargersville, IN, daughters Teresa Mitchell (Steve) of Bargersville, IN and Angie Huffine (Richard Jr.) of Bargersville, IN, grandchildren Ashley DeJulio (Brent), Evan Stewart (Alison), Sam Stewart, Emily Stewart, Charles Stewart, Melissa Coffee (Kenny), Katie Bowman (Devon), Richard Huffine III, Mary Huffine, great grandchildren Mia DeJulio, Leo DeJulio, Skylar Stewart, Alaina Stewart, Braxton Stewart, Bryson Stewart Collins, Trey Insley, Braydon Coffee and Bristol Jasper Collins due in February of 2023 and a brother in law Lawrence Pilman.

He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Imogene (Davis) Stewart, his guardian’s uncle and aunt Ralph and Mildred (Stewart) Briggs, and a sister Suzy Pilman.

Pastor Dustin Hite will conduct a service on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 11AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. Friends may call Wednesday November 16, 2022, from 4PM until 8PM at the mortuary and Thursday from 10 AM until service time. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in White River Township, Greenwood, IN.
