Grizzly Cubs overpower Quakers

Franklin used a 30-point second quarter to pull away for a 77-50 win at Plainfield on Wednesday. Erica Buening scored 14 points for the Grizzly Cubs (11-5, 4-1 Mid-State) and was joined in double digits by Brooklyn York (13), Lauren Klem (12) and Emma Sappenfield (10).

Royals eliminated from tourney

Roncalli lost to Pike, 63-52, in Marion County tournament action on Wednesday. Drew Kegerreis led the Royals (5-6) with 17 points, while Luke Kegerreis and Nolan Tunny added 12 apiece.

Men’s basketball edges Hanover

Ryan Bostic scored 21 points to pace five players in double figures as Franklin College held on for a 79-74 home win over Hanover on Wednesday night. The Grizzlies (8-6, 4-3 HCAC), who opened the game with a 17-2 run and overcame a 34-point effort from Ty Houston, also got 15 points from Cody Samples, 13 from Lynn King, 12 from Carter Crowe and 11 from Trey Flatt.

Women’s basketball falls short

Franklin College dropped a 71-54 decision at Hanover. Jordan Coon led the Grizzlies (6-8, 3-3 HCAC) with 15 points, followed by CiCi Bailey with 14.
