Lane and ramp closures planned at I-65 in Taylorsville

Planned bridge work will cause intermittent closures at the Interstate 65/U.S. 31 interchange in Taylorsville starting Monday.

Starting on or after Monday, lanes of U.S. 31 will be restricted under I-65 and ramps will close at the I-65/U.S. 31 interchange in Taylorsville (Exit 76). The ICC Group has been contracted by the Indiana Department of Transportation to do the bridge work, according to an INDOT news release.

INDOT officials say intermittent weeknight and weekend closures will take place through late October as work progresses. Weeknight closures will take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., with weekend closures scheduled between 9 p.m. on Fridays and 6 a.m. on Mondays.

Affected ramps include the I-65 southbound loop ramp to U.S. 31 southbound and the I-65 northbound loop ramp to U.S. 31 northbound. Drivers will be detoured to exit at State Road 252/Edinburgh (Exit 80) when the ramps are closed.

Work crews plan to begin work over southbound U.S. 31 and will move to northbound U.S. 31 in September. Portable message boards will be in place along both I-65 and U.S. 31 to alert drivers of closures and restrictions, INDOT officials say.

Officials remind motorists to consider worker safety by slowing down, using caution and driving distraction-free in and near construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
