Monica (Quintanilla) Stratton 67, of Beech Grove, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2024. She was born in Franklin, Indiana on January 1, 1957, to the late Felix and Mary (Dewbrew) Quintanilla. Monica was the first baby born in Johnson County that year which received a lot of notoriety that she enjoyed.

Monica attended Center Grove Schools graduating in 1975 as one of the 10 ranked in her class. She went on to pursue her Bachelor and Master of Education degrees from Bob Jones University and Indiana Baptist College respectively.

Monica taught for over 36 years, dividing that time between Suburban Baptist School and Greenwood Christian School. For the past 5 years, up until the time of her death, Monica was a substitute teacher at Greenwood Christian Academy and the Center Grove School system.

Monica loved the Lord, teaching, her students, reading, traveling, her family, friends, her sisters-in-Christ from her Monday night Bible study fellowship, and Murphy the dog.

Monica definitely had a servant’s heart and was always kind, generous, compassionate and loving to everyone she met. Those close to her know that she perpetually had a positive attitude, calm nature, kind heart and an unwavering sweet disposition.

Monica is survived by her husband of 36 years, Mark Stratton who has been by her side 45 years, daughter, Samantha S. Stratton; uncle and aunt, George and Angela Dewbrew, many wonderful nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews, as well as many first cousins and their children. Monica was preceded in death by her father and mother, Felix and Mary Quintanilla, great-nephew, Dustin Quintanilla, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A visitation will be held Friday, March 15th from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service &Crematory, Greenwood Chapel 481 W. Main Street Greenwood. A funeral service will be 11:00am, Saturday, March 16th at the funeral home with a visitation from 10:00am to service time.
