EDINBURGH
Richard Allen Neville, 87 of Edinburgh, Indiana passed away March 9, 2024 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, in-patient facility. He was born January 8, 1937 in Edinburgh, Indiana. He was the son of William David and Georgia K. (Gardner) Neville. He married Mary Jane (Cox) Neville and she survives. He is also survived by son, Jeffrey Goens of Edinburgh, Indiana, daughters, Michelle (David) Boyer of Indianapolis, Indiana, Connie Goens of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Jennifer Halsmer of Indianapolis, Indiana, eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Frank Neville, Donald Neville, Ralph Neville, Melvin Neville, and James David Neville, and sister, Bernadine Knight.
Richard was a 1955 graduate of Edinburgh High School. He served for four years in the United Stated Marine Corp. He formerly worked at Rexham, owned Pure Oil Service Station in Edinburgh, Blue River Bank in Edinburgh and worked his way up to bank president. He retired from Carpenter Reality in Franklin, Indiana.
He was a member of the Methodist Church in Edinburgh, Masonic Lodge 100, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine of Indianapolis, 55 year member of Edinburgh Lion’s Club serving in a variety of offices, Double Y Saddle Club, and Columbus Dance Club. He was recognized for attending over 50 consecutive Indianapolis 500 races.
Richard enjoyed horseback riding, Ball Room dancing, IU basketball, and playing golf.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
