Indy man charged with sexual battery

Prosecutors charged an Indianapolis man with sexual battery after a coworker told police he forced himself on her.

Alejandro E. Granados, 62, of Indianapolis is charged with sexual battery, a Level 6 felony. If convicted, he could face up to 2.5 years in jail.

Greenwood police were called about 7:40 p.m. Dec. 15 to a warehouse near the East Main Street-Interstate 65 interchange after a woman reported a coworker had forced her to kiss him and touched her inappropriately. The victim told police she was leaving work when a man, later identified as Granados, started to talk to her about his personal life. They previously had brief conversations with one another, as he worked as a janitor in the building, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Jan. 6 in Johnson County Circuit Court.

The victim told police Granados was hard to understand because he knew little English, and when she told him she was leaving to go home, he asked her why she was going and blocked the exit to the building. The victim said she felt as though she couldn’t leave. He then began talking to her about marijuana and how sex was better after smoking it, court documents show.

The victim made her way outside and Granados followed her. After the victim unlocked her car, he opened a car door and pushed her inside. He then grabbed her and began kissing her against her will. He then grabbed her by her neck and touched her inappropriately over her clothes before eventually leaving and blowing her a kiss, according to court documents.

When police spoke with Granados a few days later, he said the victim initiated the conversation and that she was lying, court documents show.

Granados told police to check surveillance cameras at the warehouse, but most of the incident was not captured due to it taking place outside of the range of the cameras’ motion sensors, according to court documents.

Granados was arrested on a warrant Tuesday and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was held on $300 bond.
