Interstate 69 construction weekly update

County Road 144 east of State Road 37 closed Monday for four weeks as crews begin drainage improvements on the eastern portion of the interchange.

During the closure, motorists are asked to use State Road 135 to detour around the closure, according to a weekly update on construction from Indiana Department of Transportation.

An additional two-week closure is expected in the area in the future, as the Johnson County Highway Department will replace three culverts on County Road 144 between State Road 37 and Smokey Row Road.

In Morgan County, motorists should watch for daytime flaggers on State Road 252 and Cramertown loop as crews complete final paving and striping early this week. Additionally, both lanes of Interstate 69 in Martinsville should expect nightly rolling closures as paving crews apply permanent pavement markings, INDOT officials say.

In Marion County, crews have completed a new Belmont Avenue extension that connects the street to Southport Road. A new access point for Between the Bun and Anytime Fitness will be located at the north end of the property off the new Belmont Avenue access, INDOT officials say.

Crews also completed the bridge deck pour for the Madison Avenue bridge this past weekend. Interstate 465 traffic should still anticipate nightly single and double lane closures as crews continue bridge work at Mann Road and Madison Avenue, INDOT officials say.

Crews have also repaired the 80-foot section of the southbound lane of State Road 37 that was damaged by a fiery crash two weeks ago. Paving crews will monitor the status of the temporary pavement before laying the final layer of asphalt, INDOT officials say.
