ST. PAUL, IN
Dorris Jean Bowman, age 98, formerly of Franklin, IN and St. Paul, IN, passed away peacefully in Lutz, FL October 9, 2020. She was the loving wife of 70 years to Doyle L. Bowman who preceded her in death, along with her parents John and Bessie Sittle (Indianapolis IN), her sisters Josephine Lucille Abbot (Indianapolis) and Virginia Lee Simpson (Trinidad, Co).
She is survived by sons, David W. Bowman (Karen) Lutz, FL and Dr. Dennis D. Bowman Stateline, NV. She has two grandchildren Emily Ann Barkley (Beau) South Lake Tahoe, CA, Philip D. Bowman (Kristina) (Forks, WA). She has four great-grandchildren Fenn and Morrison Barkley, and Kirsten and Veronika Bowman, niece Portia Wright and nephews Mark, Gary and Ricky Simpson.
She was born in Indianapolis, IN and was a graduate of Warren Central High School. She lived on a farm outside of St. Paul, IN for 60 years before moving to Franklin, IN. She worked at the Johnson County REMC and retired in 1974.
Following the death of her husband, in 2013, she moved to Lutz, FL to be near and spend time with her son and daughter-in-law.
She was a devout Christian and a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin, IN. She was a wonderful mother and a big fan of the Indiana Pacers, Boston Celtics, and Indianapolis Colts.
She will be interned in Indianapolis at Washington Park East Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
