Philip W. Pettit

FRANKLIN, IN.

Philip W. Pettit 84, of Franklin, IN passed away Monday June 13, 2022, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, IN. He was born November 29, 1937, in Franklin, IN to Provie and Helen (Thompson) Pettit. He married Nell R. (Haynes) Pettit on August 31, 1956, in Franklin, IN, she survives.

He was a 1956 graduate of Franklin Community High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He retired as a purchasing agent for the city of Indianapolis after 47 years of service.

He attended Amity Baptist Church. Philip was a board member and past treasurer of the Amity Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed the outside, yard work, flower gardening, bird watching and feeding the birds. He especially enjoyed family get togethers and watching his grandkids and great grandkids play sports and play together.

Survivors include his wife Nell R. (Haynes) Pettit of Franklin, IN, two daughters Kelly Derebeef (Ryan) of Morgantown, IN and Stacy Plummer of Whiteland, IN, four grandchildren Kirshton Hart (Nate), Trebor Hensley (Miranda), Kikz Hensley (Sevana), and Donnevan Plummer, seven great grandchildren Mckeltee Hart, Titus Hart, Kash Hensley, Chesney Hensley, Leah Hensley, Maddi Hart and Chloe Hart.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, George Edward Pettit, Arthur Pettit and Donald Eugene Pettit.

Pastor Doug Brown will conduct a service on Friday June 17, 2022 at 10AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. Friends may call Thursday June 16, 2022 from 4PM until 7PM at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
