Michael Eric Stilabower

INDIANAPOLIS

Michael “Mike” E. Stilabower, 73, of Indianapolis passed away on September 12, 2022 in Franklin, IN. He was born on May 24,1949, in Sheblyville, IN to the late Carol E. Stilabower and Martha I. (Stewart) Stilabower.

Mike was a 1967 graduate of Shelbyville High School. He received his bachelors degree from Indiana State University in 1971. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Mike served his country in the United States Army from 1971 to 1976.

He married Carol Jean (McKenney) Stilabower on June 12, 1971 and she survives. They were married for 51 years.

Mike worked for more than 40 years in the instrumentation divisions/industry retiring from Siemens in 2016. He worked for many multinational conglomerate corporations and large industrial manufacturing companies. He always enjoyed his work, the traveling and wonderful co-workers turned lifelong friends.

Mike enjoyed his retirement years by attending many sporting events for his grandchildren, afternoon cruises in his prized roadster sports car and being a “snowbird” in the winter months residing in Indian Rocks Beach, FL.

Mike and family were active members of Southport Presbyterian Church and later members of Mount Pleasant

Christian Church. He was an active member of the Millersville Lodge NO. 126, F&AM Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite Cathedral of Indianapolis. He also enjoyed volunteering with the Salvation Army Food Pantries on the southside of Indianapolis.

Mike is survived by his daughters, Stacy (Adam) Winkler of Greenwood, IN and Lindsey (Dave) Dragoo of Fishers, IN. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Ella Dragoo and Hudson and Hayden Winkler.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Carol E. Stilabower and Martha I. (Stewart) Stilabower, his paternal grandparents Ralph H. Stilabower and Lelia Ellen (Cherry) Stilabower and his maternal grandparents Carl Stewart and Alta M.(Moore) Stewart.

A memorial service will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Main Chapel – 1977 S State Rd 135, Greenwood, IN 46143 on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 12pm (noon).

Visitation will be held from 10am to 12pm with services following right after. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations maybe made to the Compass Park – Indiana Masonic Home – 690 State Street Franklin, IN 46131.
