INDIANAPOLIS
Ronald Kevin Retz 69, passed from our earthly world after a lengthy illness. He was born January 30, 1953, in Indianapolis to John & Grace (Lowdermilk) Retz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, several aunts, uncles, and in-laws.
Survivors include an uncle, Chelsia (Mary Jane) Lowdermilk and an aunt Vetra Louise Black, siblings; Kerry (Rene) Lowdermilk, Pat Lowdermilk, Cheryl Retz, Linda Shaw, John (Carol) Retz, and Alicia Owens. Several nieces and nephews are also mourning their loss: Kevin (Becky) Lowdermilk, Keith (Carrie) Lowdermilk, Heather (Steve Laymon) Owens, Josh (Chelsea) Retz, Lauren Retz, Marci Morris, Tammy (Chris) Hubbard, Tom (Angela) Shaw, Misty (Allen) Jones, Andy (Rachel) Shaw, and Brandon (Robin Wilson) Shaw.
After graduation from Greenwood High School, Ron moved to Illinois and eventually on to Oklahoma. He put down roots in Oklahoma City and lived there most of his adult life. He worked for several companies throughout the years, but most of his time was with the Triangle Corporation, where he was a foreman.
In 2010, He returned to Greenwood to be nearer to his family. Growing up, Ron played baseball and basketball, and he has always been an avid fan of nearly all sports, especially IU Basketball. But what really brought the sparkle to his eyes was enjoying time with all the children in the family. When he couldn’t be with them, he was calling and asking about them. He loved them dearly.
He was a man of strong faith and loved Jesus. He attended many Bible study and worship groups when able. Rest in heavenly peace, Ron.
A visitation will take place at Wilson St. Pierre, 481 W. Main St. from 4p-6p. A celebration of life will immediately follow the visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations to Riley Children’s Hospital are acceptable.
